For bespoke curtains, the lining you choose significantly impacts aesthetics, insulation, light control, and durability. The main types are Cotton Sateen, Blackout, Thermal, and the additional layer of Interlining.
Pencil Pleat curtains is a classic and versatile header style that features tightly gathered, narrow folds of fabric that resemble a row of pencils. The pleats are created using a special tape with cords that are pulled to gather the material.
A pencil pleat curtain can be hung from a curtain pole or a curtain track.
Eyelet curtains are extremely popular in contemporary room schemes. The folds on the eyelet mean they deliver a slimmer stack back to a more traditional curtain heading, which may be advantageous if space is limited either side of the windows for the curtains to stack on. Eyelet curtains can only be used on a curtain pole.
A double pleat curtain header is a decorative, tailored heading style, that features pairs of pleats gathered tightly and stitched at the top. The pleats are created by folding two creases of fabric together and sewing them into place. These uniform pleats are spaced out with a flat section of fabric in between each one creating a smart, clean, and elegant appearance that is often considered more contemporary than the three-fold triple pleat.
The design ensures the curtains hang in a more structured, uniform fold and stack back neatly.
Can be used with either a curtain pole or a track system.
A triple pleat curtain header is a decorative heading style featuring three evenly spaced folds of fabric that are pinched and sewn together at the base of the heading. For a traditional, luxurious look an inter-lined triple pinch pleat curtain will deliver the best solution. The permanent pleats ensure that the curtains fall in a uniform, controlled, and beautiful cascade from the top to the floor.
These curtains are hung from a track or pole using drapery hooks inserted into the back of each pleat. They look particularly impressive when hung from a decorative pole.
Wave curtains are an extremely popular choice, particularly over large expanses of glass such as bi-fold or sliding doors, or in front of floor to ceiling windows or doors. A wave curtain delivers a neat, contemporary window dressing and looks very stylish. Wave curtains use a specialist track or pole system.
